Ruth K. Baldwin

Ruth K. Baldwin, 83, died on Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY. From her birth in Dunkirk, NY on January 13, 1936 to her death on Sunday, she led a very interesting life full of travel, family and educational experiences. Ruth’s parents were John and Bessie (Salisbury) Kepple of Dunkirk.

Ruth proved herself to be very intellectually curious and by the age of four, could use a typewriter, recite U.S. capitals and the names of persons on U.S. Currency. Her father taught her much of what she knew including the ability to recite the alphabet backwards. After her father’s early death, Ruth and her mother traveled around New York State settling in Amsterdam and other areas. They eventually returned to Dunkirk and Ruth excelled in secondary school, specifically in Latin and math.

After high school, she went to business school in Buffalo, married and began a family. Ruth and her husband, Samuel Corsi Jr. had six children.

Ruth was a career woman as well and retired from SUNY Fredonia’s Computer Dept. in 1991.

She traveled throughout Mexico, the U.S. & Europe with her husband Bob.

She married Robert Baldwin of Sheridan, her loving companion of 43 years. They had made a home in Sheridan and also traveled throughout the U.S. until Ruth became ill.

Besides her husband, Ruth is survived by six children and two step children: Mark (Colby Brown) Corsi, John (Bunny) Corsi, Mary (Ed) Beatty, Kirk (Sharon) Corsi, Daniel (Sue) Corsi, Laurie (Charlie Hearne) Corsi, Faith (Bill) Donald, Nevan (Wendy) Baldwin. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

A Memorial Service will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church on W. 4th St in Dunkirk, NY on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Dunkirk Public Library or charity of choice.
