Donald J. Gworek of Fredonia, NY, died on November 6, 2019, at UPMC at Hamot in Erie, PA. He was born in Dunkirk, NY, January 6, 1932 to the late Felix and Stella (Lokietek) Gworek.
He was educated through the Fredonia School system and from 1952 to 1954; Donald served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 37 years, he enjoyed working for the U.S. Postal Service in Fredonia, NY retiring in 1994. Donald was also a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Fredonia, NY. He loved to go to the Casino, bingo, fishing, hunting and camping with his late wife, Verna, who died on April 14, 2019.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Hollifield of Roebuck, SC, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Northrup of Silver Creek, NY.
Donald’s Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019, at Noon in the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY, with the Rev. Joseph Walters officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his service and may call at the Funeral Home from 10:30 until noon, prior to his service. Interment will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
