James W. Wells PhD.

James W. Wells PhD., 79, of Gowanda, NY passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 22, 1940 in Gowanda, son of the late Richard and Anne (Mentley) Wells. He received his undergraduate degree at the Case Institute of Technology in Ohio. He then received his PhD. from the University of Buffalo, where he was the 1st Student to do his research off campus at Roswell Cancer Institute. On June 5, 1971, he married the former Jacquelyn Reed who survives. For 32 years, James was a Physics Professor for Buffalo State College, and was the chairman of their Physics Department. He was a member of many academic clubs and was a member of the American Physics Association. Through the years, he had published nine research papers. James was also a member of the Gowanda Free Methodist church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved classical music.
