Cathi Lynne (English) Straight

Cathi Lynne (English) Straight, 57, of Cassadaga, N.Y., passed peacefully at home Sunday, June 21, 2020, after an extended illness. Cathi became a licensed practical nurse on June 10, 1991. She graduated from the National Wildlife Damage Management Academy in 2007. Cathi married Andrew C. Straight, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on May 11, 2006.

Licensed as a practical nurse, Cathi also possessed a NYS Pistol Permit. As an LPN she worked in the home health care industry providing assistance to the disabled. Aside from nursing, she also worked as a wildlife control operator’s assistant with Andy. She returned to nursing working for the State of New York as an LPN in a group home on Berry Road for the Developmental Disabilities Service Organization.

Cathi, having a “green thumb”, she enjoyed her plants and flowers and working in their vegetable garden. Being an adventurist, she had fun on the many boat and ATV rides with her husband. A marksman, she shot with both pistol and rifle. A nature lover too, she enjoyed feeding and watching the swans and wildlife on the lake. Cathi also loved spending time with Barney, their Beagle, and rewarding him for good behavior. Being a live music fan, she had fun attending concerts in the region. Despite her busy life, Cathi managed to keep the cabin well organized. Being married to a veteran, Cathi was a proud supporter of Disabled Veterans groups. Cathi was an integral part of The Sunrizes, a Spiritualist service held in Cassadaga.

Cathi is survived by: her loving Pastor husband and spiritual guide, Andrew; her father, father-in-law, David M. Straight; daughter, Nicole Syscho; son, Tyler Grisanti and two grandchildren; her lifelong best friend, Janet Goldberg and confidante Greg Smith. Also, sadly missed by their pure bred canine “son” Barney, whom she adored.

Cathi is predeceased by her mother and her brother, Clayton James English, who passed in 1981; also her mother -in-law, Patricia A. Straight, who passed July 3, 2019.

Due to the pandemic and social distancing, a private celebration of life service will be held in Cassadaga, N.Y., by her husband, and Pastor Lynn Bedford officiating. A private family interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America in Cathi’s honor.
