Mary A. Tripi

BROCTON — Mary A. Tripi, 94, of Brocton, N.Y., passed away Wednesday morning July 1, 2020, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y., following a brief illness.

Mary was born Nov. 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles and Loretta (Parisi) Tripi.

She was a graduate of Brocton, Central School and had lived there her entire life. Mary had worked for BOCES in Fredonia, N.Y., as a film librarian, retiring in 1991. She also retired from The Board of Education at that same time. During her life, she was also employed at Manzella Superette and Welch Foods of Brocton.

Mary was a very active member of St. Dominic’s (formerly St. Patrick’s) Roman Catholic Church of Brocton, N.Y. She was a former member of The Prayer Line, a former member of the Children of Mary, The Reach Out Society, a eucharistic minister and a minister of the Liturgy of Mary. She was also a member of the Brocton-Portland Senior Citizens, where she served many years as vice president and secretary. Mary belonged to the AARP, the New York State Public Employees Retirement Association, the Chautauqua County Educational Personal Association. and was a representative of Region 22 Vicarate. Mary was a member of the Compact for Learning for Brocton Central School as a senior citizen, she was also an active Committee women for the Democratic Party. Mary was also the Town of Portland and School Election Inspector. Mary was a founding member of the local Brocton Chapter of Tops (Taking off Pounds Sensibly). She was the Class Reunion Chair person for many years and lastly, Mary handed out ration Books during World War II.

She is survived by her Godchildren, several cousins and her church family.

Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the Governor of New York, family and friends may call at the MORSE Funeral Home, 51 Highland Avenue, Brocton, N.Y., on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, 12 Central Ave., Brocton, N.Y., on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. at 10:30 a.m. with Father Romeo Hontiveros officiating. Burial will follow at Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in honor of Mary may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
