Kathleen M. Taber

She was born Sept. 22, 1947. in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Anthony and Marie (Kohman) Galardo.

A lifelong resident of the area, Kathleen was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1966. She had been employed as a loss prevention officer for various stores in the area, a job that she loved and took pride in doing.

Survivors include her husband, David P. Taber Sr., whom she married Aug. 13, 1966; three children: David Jr. (Jacqueline Kucmierz) Taber, Charles (Charity) Taber and Ally (Steve Krystofiak) Rosing, all of Dunkirk; 11 grandchildren: Shayn, Chelsea, Robert, Jayson, Breanna, Dominick, Zackary, Hannah, Savanna, Steven and Jordan; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers: Anthony II (Sheryl) Galardo of Elgin, S.C., Carl Galardo of Fredonia, Allan Galardo of Dunkirk, and Paul (Brenda) Galardo of East Aurora; two sisters: Linda Burlingame of Portland, N.Y., and Mary Jo (Michael) Kujawa of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen is also survived by her best friends of 40 years, Leslie and Linda Valentine of Maryland.

She enjoyed bird watching in her backyard, trips to the casino, but mostly loved when her grandchildren came to visit her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Galardo; and sister, Sharon Reading.

Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 11, at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sheridan, NY.
