Peter J. Spinuzza

ROCTON – Peter J. Spinuzza, 85, of Brocton, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, in Westfield Memorial Hospital.

Pete was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Brocton, N.Y., the son of the late Marion Sr. and Lucy (Ingavo) Spinuzza.

Mr. Spinuzza was a lifelong resident of Brocton and attended Brocton Central School. Following high school, he went on to work for the Altech Specialty Steel Plant in Dunkirk, N.Y., as a machinist. He was employed there for 50 plus years retiring when he was the young age of 77.

He was a faithful parshioner of the former St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church of Brocton, now St. Dominic’s right up until his passing.

Peter was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 2693, Westfield Moose Lodge 118, and former member of the Moniuszko Social Club of Dunkirk, N.Y. He was an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams being the New York Yankees, Cleveland Browns, Syracuse Orangemen, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He could often be seen in attendance watching several sporting events at the high school cheering on his beloved Bulldog teams.

Peter loved making red wine, gardening, canning his harvest which included tomatoes and making pasta sauce. He was a handy man able to fix anything broken inside or outside around the house. He was an avid classic country music fan.

Peter is survived by his children; Tammy (Dan) Wolnik of Florida, Mindy Spinuzza also of Florida; his son, Marcus (Tracey) Spinuzza of Silver Creek; brothers: James, Marion Jr., and Thomas Spinuzza and loving sister, Mildred Spinuzza; and his brother-in-law, Floyd Carpenter. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Lucas, Jennica, Alyssa, Rhett, Nicole, Kaelyn, Jacob, Gabby, and Briana; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Lena, Gage and Sylas; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Gizmo.

In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his son, Darrin Spinuzza who died in 2018; his brothers: Jack, Pietro, Leonard and Salvatore Spinuzza; and his sisters: Angeline Taber, Catherine Carpenter, and Josephine Spinuzza.

Family and friends are invited to call at the MORSE FUNERAL HOME, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, N.Y., TODAY, Oct; 14, 2021, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church,12 Central Ave., Brocton, NY 14716 at 11:00 am with Fr. David Tourville officiating. Burial will follow in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
