Phyllis K. Sprague, 88, of Brocton, N.Y., formerly of Mayville, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday morning Nov. 23, 2021, at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, N.Y.

She was born on June 15, 1933, in Angelica, N.Y., the daughter of the late Paul and Evalena (Monroe) Burley.

Surviving are a son, Allan (Judy) Sprague of Dunkirk, N.Y.; four daughters: Brenda Sprague of York, S.C., Holly Conklin and Terri Sprague of Jamestown, N.Y. and Julie Kowalski of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Sprague; a brother, Charles Burley; and four sisters: Marion Richardson, Alberta VanArsdale, Eleanor Meadows and Shirley Burr.

Phyllis was a 1951 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School. She worked for Webb’s Resort in Mayville, N.Y., since 1988 as the head housekeeper, a clerk in the candy store and managed the front desk. She also ran her own wallpaper and cleaning business in N. Chautauqua County for many years.

Phyllis was a former member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Mayville, where she taught Sunday school and played bass guitar in music ministry. She enjoyed her music, cherished her family and loved to watch and feed the birds. Currently, she was a member of the Lake Erie Baptist Church in Brocton, N.Y.

Friends may call at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St. Westfield, NY on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec.1, 2021, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at the Laona Cemetery.
