Beverly Kingsley

Beverly Kingsley passed away on January 9, 2023 in West Orange, New Jersey. She died peacefully with her two sons, Scott and Greg with her. She is survived by her sons and her sister, Shirley Smith, daughters in law Gail Kingsley and Carol Till, and three grandsons, Andrew, Matthew, and Jonathan Kingsley.

Beverly was born in 1933 in Fredonia, NY, the daughter of Raymond and Alice Salhoff. She was predeceased by her husband Captain Stephen S. Kingsley who she married in 1954. A dutiful navy wife, she followed Steve’s navy career through numerous moves from coast to coast, especially enjoying her time in Carmel, California, Newport, Rhode Island, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. She made deep friendships everywhere and maintained those friendships over long distances.

For 30 years, Beverly owned and managed a highly regarded needlework store in Virginia Beach: the Hook and I. After Steve’s retirement, in addition to running her store, Beverly enjoyed traveling, visiting grandchildren, and sailing the Chesapeake with friends and family. She was a dedicated member of the P.E.O. International women’s organization, running a bed and breakfast for them for more than two decades. Bev was a devoted member of Presbyterian and Methodist churches for her entire life.

Beverly will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, NY. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring, location and date to be determined.
