Margarita Valentin

Margarita Valentin, 67, of Dunkirk was called home to be with her Savior and LORD JESUS CHRIST on Wednesday (March 22, 2023) at home. She was born June 16, 1955 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Ramon and Julia (Vega) Rosas. A Dunkirk resident for most of her life, Margarita was a graduate of Dunkirk High School. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She was avid sports fanatic of all teams that her loving son and husband followed especially WWF Wrestling and Roman Reigns. She loved to watch old cowboy and marvel movies. Her joy was being a mother and a wife and taking care of her dog Tilo. Margarita was always known for dressing up and dancing. She was very proud of her Betty Boop and Elvis collection. She was employed by the Dunkirk Public Schools for about 15 years as a Teacher Aid and a Bilingual Translator. She also worked at Boces, Literacy Volunteers, Adult Learning Center, SEAS and Brooks Memorial Hospital training staff in Spanish. Her infectious smile and kind heart will be sadly missed by all her friends and family especially her dear friends Grace Mezzio and Milagros Torres. Survivors include her husband, Jose Valentin; one son, Jose (Venesia Butts) Valentin of Dunkirk; one grandson, Taylor Rancka; one brother, Gilberto (Minerva) Rosas of Dunkirk; three sisters, Milagros (late Angel) Pagan of Dunkirk, Rosita (late Samuel) Jauregui of Lackawanna, and Marcelina Rosas of Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Aida L. Rosas; and five brothers, Edyl, Hector Sr., Jesus, Manuel, and Luis Rosas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Saturday afternoon at 2:45 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Calling hours will be held today from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
