Elaine Wood

After she graduated, she moved to Bremerton, Washington to work at the naval yard where she met her husband to be, Dennis Wood, at a skating rink. They married March 9th, 1946 and moved to his hometown of Forestville, NY.

Elaine was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She and her husband enjoyed couples bowling, card games with friends, camping and motorcycle rides. In later years, she enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, and especially game nights with her children, grandchildren, and great grands. She helped with her children’s scouting when her children were young. She was active with her church, Stockton Community Church, and active with Ladies Aid, Bible school, and AWANAS.

After Dennis retired, they enjoyed spending winters in Zephyrhills, Fla. There they enjoyed Flea markets, yard sales, and visiting with extended family.

She is survived by 1 sister Marilyn and her 6 children, Carrol (late Richard Kennedy), Christine (John) Yonkie, Lyaine (Sam) Spaulding, Bruce (Tina) Wood, Son in law Joe Austin, Terry Spinler (Dan Culligan), and Glenda Wood. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 bonus grandchildren, 26 great grands, 2 great great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews

Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Dennis in 1990, and her daughter, Dayetta Wood Austin in 2023. She was also predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Relatives and friends may visit Morse Funeral Home 51 Highland Ave. Brocton, NY Monday October 9, 2023 from 3PM to 7PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at Stockton Community Church 4554 Railroad Ave. Stockton, NY at 11AM.

Interment will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Stockton Community Church or the Stockton Fire Company.
