Pauline Johnson

On February 23, 2024, Pauline Johnson of Brocton, NY went to be with our heavenly father and joined her husband Ronald and son Ronnie Jr.

Pauline was born in Mentcle, PA on October 9, 1939 to Walter E. (Belkowski) McCloskey and Jenny (Scanlon) McCloskey.

She is survived by her daughter Valerie Lee Lindholm and son-in-law Craig from Carlsbad, CA, granddaughter Erin and Brad Gural of Minneapolis, grandson Jon and Amanda, great-granddaughter Emma and Great grandson Luke of Thornton, CO. Pauline had 5 siblings, Louise Buriok, Walter McCloskey Jr., Margie Oroze and surviving brother Dick McCloskey and sister Pat Zanghi both of Portland, NY., god daughter-niece Lynne (McCloskey) Rose and husband Gerry of Tucson, AZ, along with several nieces and nephews.

She married Ronald Allen (Brissee) Johnson of Stockton on September 21, 1957, Ron passed away the day before their 65th Wedding Anniversary in 2022. Their son Ronnie Jr. passed away on Jan. 20, 1991, from complication of diabetes.

Pauline was a very bright student who graduated from Brocton Central School as the class of 1957 salutatorian. She held the record for the fastest typist at 135 words a minute at Brocton High School. She started working for Niagara Therapy as an executive secretary for 29 years until the company relocated to NC. She decided to take the NY state civil service test and scored the highest in the state. She was hired by BOCES in Fredonia as an executive secretary, then there was an opportunity for the DA’s office in Mayville, to work for judge John Ward and Attorney Daryl Brautigam. A few years later the County Executive Andrew Goodell hired her as the senior typist, she stayed on with Mark Thomas and Gregory Edwards until 2007 when she retired and left the job that she absolutely loved. She always looked forward to going to work each day and developed so many wonderful friendships throughout the years.

Upon retirement they purchased a 38′ RV and traveled the country with their friends Leo and Marty Franze. The 4 of them were RV Park Host for 11 years at Mesa Regal in Mesa, AZ and 2 years wintering in Zephyrhills, FL.

She loved attending county fairs, watching Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, being part of a NASCAR Fantasy League, cheering on Chase Elliott and Jimmy Johnson. In her spare time, she enjoyed “word books”, playing cards, Bingo, going to the Casino’s, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Fox News. She was a member of the Brocton American Legion Auxiliary, on the Rizzo Trucking Bowling Team and Tops Weight Management group.

A Celebration of Life will be held on 4:00pm Saturday May 25th at the Brocton American Legion, 110 West Main Street, Brocton, NY.
