David M. Belote
David M. Belote, 77 of Silver Creek, died Thursday, June 5, 2025 at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, PA following a lengthy illness. He was born in Silver Creek on March 12, 1948, the son of the late Miles and Mildred (Smith) Belote.
David attended Forestville Central School and served with the Marines during the Vietnam War for a total of eight years as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for the former Kraft Foods in Dunkirk until their closing and then Dunkirk Ice Cream and Fieldbrook Farms.
He was a member of the Koscuiszko Club the “Dog House” & Moniscuzko Club in Dunkirk and the Beaver Club of Fredonia. David was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and loved cats.
Survivors include his loving companion Debra Bielat of Silver Creek, who was devotedly by his side until his passing, a daughter Amy (Ed) Blue, of Fredonia, a son Richard Belote, of TN, and two sisters Beverly Fuller, of IN, and Linda Hadzega, of Ripley. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Brendan & Haley Blue and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Koury) Belote, whom he married on Oct. 10, 1970 in Alexandria, VA and a brother Donald Spears.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville with Rev. David Watson, pastor of Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville. Private interment will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery, Dunkirk.
