John T. Pencek

John T. Pencek (Jack) 69, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2025 at home. He was a lifelong resident of Dunkirk. He was born on Dec. 28, 1955 the son of the late John T. and Mary D. (Adamski) Pencek. Jack was a graduate of St. Hyacinth School and a 1973 graduate of Dunkirk High School. He was also a graduate of Rochester Business Institute.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Kelley Pencek of Arlington, VA and Erin Pencek of Clermont, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (late Susan) of Columbus, OH, and his sisters, Jane (late Roy) White of Chantilly, VA, Mary Ann (late Robert) Mahunik of Pennellville, NY and Carol (George) Stafford of Fredonia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jack was retired from Refresco and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Bills and Sabres. You could always find him having a “sociable cocktail” with his many friends at the clubs – don’t forget the rotten fruit. His memberships included the Kosciuszko Club, Moniuszko Club and the Conservation Club.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Jack’s memory to either Roswell Park or the Special Olympics.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 from 11-1 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc.; 56 East Doughty St., Dunkirk, NY. Prayer services will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be held in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
