Lois Jean Lembke, “Jean”, 96, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab, Dunkirk, formely of Cassadaga, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Arcade on July 18, 1929, the daughter of the late Frederick and Emma (Webster) Ritchey. Jean was a member of the former Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, where she was Financial Secretary. She was also a former member of the Cassadaga Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer with the Smithsonian, when building Kinzua. Jean was a world traveler and very community minded. Survivors include a son Craig (Janet) Lembke, of Cassadaga and a sister, Judy Cruikshank. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Angela (Mark Oliver) Wuttig of Burien, WA and Crista (Sean) Tennant of Newbury Park, CA, three great grandchildren; Finnian Wuttig, Hannah and Carson Tennant and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Wayne Lembke, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1949 in Buffalo and who died on April 3, 2008, a son Ross Lembke who died Dec. 1, 2016 and a brother James Ritchey. There will be a Celebration of Life in the summer of 2026. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Cassadaga Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to Charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.
