Ronald Veklotz
Ronald Veklotz
Ronald Veklotz, 76, of Dunkirk, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Ronald was born on Oct. 29th, 1948 in Silver Creek to Peter and Jeanette Veklotz (Porpiglia).
Throughout his life, Ronald was known for his strong connections with family, friends and the community. He spent many years working as a social worker at the office for the aging, where he touched many lives.
Outside of work, Ronald (aka “Veek”) found great joy in camping, biking, playing tennis, family vacations, coaching softball, playing slow pitch, and attending his daughters sports activities. He coined the phrase “Veeked out”, or relaxing and having fun, which he often did while boating on the waters of Lake Erie. He was a dedicated sports fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. He especially cherished time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dawn Veklotz (Draudt); his daughters, Carrie Veklotz (McClintic), Alison Veklotz (Pashkin); and his five grandchildren, Chloe, Chase, Luke, Lyla and Alexander — who will carry his love and laughter in their hearts always. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Jeanette Veklotz, and foster sister, Celia Quinn, who surely welcomed him home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4th at 10:30 am in Trinity Church, 11 Day St. in Fredonia. Following the service, there will be a luncheon at 12:30 pm in the First Ward Falcon Club, 341 Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk. Friends and family are invited to come together to share stories and honor Ronald’s beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Altheimer’s Association at alz.org, an organization close to Ronald’s heart.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all of his friends and family, as well as the staff at Chautauqua County Nursing and Rehab Center and Sunrise of Franklin Lakes for their care, kindness, and support.
