Thirty years ago — 1992

Gov. Mario Cuomo recently called for a voter-approved $800 million bond act to spur the economy in what he said would be the largest economic revitalization program in New York’s history. In his 10th State of the State message to the Legislature, Cuomo sharply criticized the federal government for a failure to respond to a troubled economy and said New York state should help lead the way out.

Forty years ago — 1982

Earlier this month, Lawrence F. Spacciapolli, president of Larry Spacc Pontiac in Dunkirk, was awarded a plaque honoring him for 25 years with Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors Corp. Presenting the award were Jim Stewart, assistant zone manager of the Buffalo zone and Elmer Nagy, district sales manager.

Fifty years ago — 1972

Joseph Kinn has been appointed as the town of Dunkirk representative on a committee studying zoning along Bennett Road (Route 60).
