DPW does great job with leaves
Editor, OBSERVER:
Tony Gugino and his crew picked up our leaves on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and they did a great job.
We want to thank him and his crew for a nice job done. Mr. Gugino is a terrific supervisor for the village of Fredonia. He’s smart and he knows the business.
We were lucky to get Tony. Nice job Tony!
FRANK DeJOHN,
Fredonia
Veterans need more respect
Editor, OBSERVER:
I’m a law-abiding citizen of Dunkirk. I’m 68 years old, a veteran and have been disabled for more than 10 years.
After reading the article in the OBSERVER after Veterans Day honoring our military personnel, I decided we have reached a new low. I took it as a slap in the face for me and every other veteran in this community. I also found it to be a double slap for every parent, spouse, child, other relative, friend and classmate who will always suffer pain for a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Those of us who came home gave a minimum of the best years of our lives for a country we believed in. Countless others came home crippled, minus limbs, and suffering many different illnesses.
I wish to thank Applebee’s, Lowe’s, Home Depot and so may other great companies who honor our vets 365 days a year. Dunkirk only seems to honor them 365 minutes a year.
You can’t make America great when you refuse to make it respectable!

Dunkirk
