Not everyone

is masking up

Editor, OBSERVER:

I walked into an appointment recently and walked up to the reception desk, which prompted two of the three clerks to put on their masks.

I awaited another worker, who had not yet arrived by the appointed time only to observe another employee walk in the front door maskless, walk behind reception and proceed to talk to the other workers without a mask on.

I walked out the door. I’m not playing with my life and I cannot understand how an office in the city could possibly conduct business in this pandemic by so carelessly ignoring the rules.

I’ll find this service elsewhere — and I’ll walk out or walk away from anybody who wants to take chances with my life!

Enablers have

some responsibility

Editor, OBSERVER:

This is an open letter to U.S. Rep. Tom Reed:

Dear Mr. Reed,

As Donald Trump’s campaign chair for New York state, I thought of you when I read General Jim Mattis’ quote about the recent seditious behavior of our president and the mob assault on Capitol Hill:

“Today’s violent assault on our Capitol, an effort to subjugate American democracy by mob rule, was fomented by Mr. (Donald) Trump,” Mattis wrote. “His use of the presidency to destroy trust in our election and to poison our respect for fellow citizens has been enabled by pseudo political leaders whose names will live in infamy as profiles in cowardice.”
