Rabies clinic is
community service
Editor, OBSERVER:
The community should extend a big thank you and show of appreciation for the efforts of the Pet Pantry and Lake Shore Humane Society for arranging for and sponsoring the latest rabies clinic here in Dunkirk. The free rabies clinic was Oct. 12 at the Humane Society’s building on Chestnut Street here in the city, and the vaccinations were free of charge.
The fact that two feral cats were discovered to have rabies in the south county is proof of the need for such opportunities for pet owners to have their pets vaccinated against rabies.
This valuable service should be offered by the city and county so that feral animals who are rabid do not threaten pets and their owners. Prevention is not a costly matte as the clinic requires about $400 to be held. So I believe those entities are encouraged to join the not-for-profit organizations in their efforts to eliminate or control the spread of rabies.
Thank you to the leadership and volunteers from the Pet Pantry and Lake Shore Humane Society.
