Crazy Charlie’s Appliance Center will be opening soon in Fredonia. The store will be the new occupant in the former Latimer’s Appliance Center on West Main Road in Fredonia, which was recently sold. Charles Rood, a former employee of Latimer’s, has purchased the business from former owner Waldo Latimer. The new store will carry the same line of appliances — Sharp, Kitchen Aid, Whirlpool and other well-known brands — that Latimer’s carried. Latimer’s had been a fixture in the community for 31 years. Crazy Charlie’s will be family-run as was Latimer’s.

Sen. Robert F. Kennedy stalled many a Democratic mouthful recently and it wasn’t because he missed the $100-a-plate fundraising dinner. Somewhere between the meat and potatoes, Kennedy, via special telephone hookup from Washington, told the gathering, “Rochester is a city that cares. (Mayor) Frank Lamb cares — and I know that this city will show its concern by re-electing Frank in November.” Lamb is not a candidate.
