Thirty years ago — 1989

Gertrude Knapp Casey, a 66-year member of Forestville Chapter 247, Order of the Eastern Star, received her 60-year pin and certificate from Worthy Matron Beth Benchley. Mrs. Casey, who resides at 7 Center St., Forestville, served the chapter as Worthy Matron in 1929.

Forty years ago — 1979

Graf Furniture now has plans to both buy and renovate its existing building on Central Avenue and move to a proposed new store on Deer Street in Dunkirk’s urban renewal area. Graf Realty recently offered $80,000 for the same building they sold to the Dunkirk Urban Renewal Agency back in 1970 for $199,000.

Fifty years ago — 1969

Dr. Harry Gawlowicz of Brocton has returned from Columbus, Ohio, where he attended a post-graduation course in prosthodontics at Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He has his office at 614 Central Ave.
