Thirty years ago — 1989

Dunkirk mayor-elect Gregory Krauza has had quite a year. Shortly after he was elected the city’s top official beginning Jan. 1, he and his wife received the news that Mrs. Krauza was expecting — a second set of twins!

Forty years ago — 1979

The former Acme Market at 12 Center St. in Fredonia, closed since last July, has reopened as an independently owned store called Robson’s that will not be connected with any grocery store chain. Owner William Robson said the store will be a family affair with his wife Sandra working as a checker and 14-year-old son Todd as a bagger. Mr. Robinson originally hails from Franklin, Pa.

Fifty years ago — 1969

Richard S. Forrester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Forrester of Shorewood Drive, Dunkirk is entertaining troops in Vietnam with a newly-organized musical group, “The Fixed Water.” He formerly performed in Germany with “Archie Bell and the Drells.”
