Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1989

A new sign was recently erected at Forestville Elementary School. The sign includes the school motto, “We Celebrate Learning.” The sign was constructed by local resident Robert Campaign and put in place by the building team. It is dedicated to the students, staff and community. The sign is part of a new school improvement program.

Forty years ago — 1979

Consecration ceremonies were held recently to mark the opening of the new Four Corners Methodist Church on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. The new church replaces a landmark church which was destroyed by a lightning fire in 1965. Guest speaker was the Rev. Marvin Abrams of Los Angeles, who served as pastor of the first Four Corners Methodist Church from 1959 to 1965.

Fifty years ago — 1969

Miss Nancy Sweetland of Silver Creek, a freshman at Lycoming College,Williamsport, Pa., has been chosen to play in the Pennsylvania All-State College Orchestra. Miss Sweetland plays French horn.
