Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1989

Student of the Week is Jason Jacobs, a senior at Cassadaga Valley Central School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Creed of Dewittville andMr. and Mrs. Randy Jacobs of Jamestown. Jason currently ranks first in his class and serves as president of the National Honor Society. He has also earned varsity letters in soccer, basketball, volleyball and tennis. Jason is planning a math/science career.

Forty years ago — 1979

At the annual business meeting of the New York Farm Bureau, five members were elected to the organization’s board of directors for two-year terms, including George Fisher of Chautauqua County. Fisher, from Ripley, is a recognized leader in the grape industry, having held almost all elective positions at the county Farm Bureau level. He represents District One, which includes the counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie.

Fifty years ago — 1969

Both the Dunkirk Urban Renewal Agency and the Dunkirk Housing Authority have moved into their new offices in the Masonic Building.
