Thirty years ago — 1990

A medical office building to house 12 doctors’ offices may be built on the site of the former Day House on Central Avenue just north of the Thruway in Dunkirk. The project would involve construction of a Ushaped building to provide 15,000 to 20,000 square feet of space. The prospective owner is the CN Group Inc. which is made up of a consortium of local doctors who plan to develop the project and then lease space from the corporation for their own offices.

Forty years ago — 1980

Army Specialist E-4 Hector Rosas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Rosas, 92 Maple Ave., Dunkirk puts his 19-1 amateur boxing record on the line this week in Fort Sill, Okla. Post Boxing Tournament. The 139-pound light welterweight has 14 knockouts to his credit. A four-year wrestling letterman at Dunkirk High School, Rosas credits Dunkirk police officer Frank Vega with getting him started in boxing.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Dr. Julius Paul, research political scientist for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research since 1964, has been appointed professor of political science at Fredonia State University College.
