Thirty years ago — 1990

Student of the Week is Brian Hanson, a senior at Westfield Academy and Central School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Betts of South Gale Road, Westfield. Brian has been a class officer throughout his high school career and is currently serving as vice president of the Student Government. A Key Club and Ski Club member, he has played on the school’s soccer and football teams.

Forty years ago — 1980

Miss Susan Burgess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laroy Burgess, 263 Seymour St., Fredonia has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pa. A freshman psychology major, Susan was also selected a member of the Kujawiaki Dance Club, a 39-member ethnic dance group which will perform in 15 cities this spring and has been scheduled for a seven-week tour of Poland.

Fifty years ago — 1970

“Feed Thy Neighbor,” an article about Chautauqua County’s Meals on Wheels program written by Robert Dyment, a Dunkirk magazine and newspaper writer, appears in today’s Parade magazine. Parade is a newspaper supplement distributed with 88 of the nation’s largest Sunday newspapers.
