Thirty years ago — 1990

The Dunkirk Local Development Corporation board of directors has agreed to make one last effort to find a developer for the proposed Monroe-Orchard Project. The $1.2 million project involves a proposal to purchase a 4.7 acre parcel of land south of Orchard Street for development of a 25,000 square foot light industrial building.

Forty years ago — 1980

Area residents who know Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dash and Mr. and Mrs. James Salhoff, former Fredonia residents, want to be sure to watch the next Lawrence Welk Show broadcast on Buffalo Ch. 29. The Dashes and Salhoffs, who now reside in Florida, were in the audience for the television taping of the “bubblemaker’s” special 25 anniversary program.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Dunkirk Common Council has approved the purchase of lighted buoys to be used to mark the submerged inner breakwall in the Dunkirk harbor.
