Thirty years ago — 1990

Dr. John Kazmierczak, a 1965 graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School and 1972 alumnus of Cornell University, recently received the Central Jersey’s Veterinarian of the Year Award, given by the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kazmierczak, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casimer Kazmierczak of 66 Genet St., Dunkirk operates the West Trenton Animal Hospital in West Trenton, N.J.

Forty years ago — 1980

Student of the Week is Richard Sweetman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sweetman, 6 Rix Place, Silver Creek. A senior at Silver Creek High School, he is a member of the National Honor Society and is ranked as one of the top students in his senior class. Richard has received varsity letters in baseball, basketball, cross country and football. He is presently awaiting final word of his acceptance to the United States Naval Academy. If this does not materialize, he hopes to attend either Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute or Cornell University.

Fifty years ago — 1970

According to Sister Corona, administrator, St. Columban’s-on-the-Lake Retirement Home will be ready for occupancy in early April.
