Thirty years ago — 1990

While attending a Toronto Blue Jays/Baltimore Orioles baseball game at the Sky Dome in Toronto, Matthew Kubera, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kubera of Main Street, Dunkirk was rewarded for his dedication to the Orioles team. Wearing a team hat and waving the team banner, he was presented with a baseball by Oriole pitching coach Elrod Hedrick.

Forty years ago — 1980

On April 13, the Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, Ind., (about 442 miles) held a balloon launch. Five days later, on April 18, the balloon launched by Scott Spears was recovered by Lorilla Reynolds of Summer Street, Fredonia who was tying grapes on the John H. Walker Fruit Farm on East Main Street. A special prize will be awarded for the card returned from the farthest distance.

Fifty years ago — 1970

A new pipe organ was dedicated at the First Presbyterian Church of Fredonia recently. John Hofmann, Fredonia State University College organist, presented an inaugural recital.
