Thirty years ago — 1990

Donald J. Tramuto, a Dunkirk native, was among the special list of attendees invited for a special White House briefing on the Anti-Campus Crime Bill presently being sponsored by the Bush Administration. Mr. Tramuto, an executive with Boehringer Ingelheim in Boston and president of Tra-Mir Properties in Dunkirk, has been active with both federal and state officials in lobbying for this bill.

Forty years ago — 1980

A rare occurrence occurred at Brocton Central School this year when there was a tie for the top scholastic honors. Greg Kimmel and John Morse were named as co-valedictorians. The son of Gene and Jeanne Kimmel of Fredonia, Greg plans to attend Cornell University for engineering. John, the son of James and Olive Morse of Walker Road, Portland will major in engineering at John Brown University.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Rev. John L. Hrycyna, pastor of St. Hedwig’s Church in Dunkirk, recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood.
