Thirty years ago — 1990

The Fredonia Little League has reorganized its minor league program, forming a five-team junior league named the Benjamin Cerrie League. Cerrie, longtime District 2 Little League Administrator, was recently presented a plaque by league officials for his many years of dedicated service to the Fredonia program.

Forty years ago — 1980

Four seniors, each having maintained a perfect “A” average throughout their high school careers, have been named co-valedictorians for the Class of 1980 at Fredonia High School. They are Mark Fahnestock, who will attend the University of Rochester; Marcy Metivier, who will be at Ohio Wesleyan University in the fall; Daniel Miga, who will continue his education at Fredonia State University College; and Cathy Shaw, who will be a freshman at Alfred University.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Dunkirk High School senior Bob Barlette recently finished second in the 100-yard dash at the 23rd annual State Intersectional Track and Field meet.
