Thirty years ago — 1990

In a union dubbed “Cuomolot” by one New York tabloid, two of the nation’s most powerful political families and two of the families’ rising stars were joined in marriage on June 9. Kerry Kennedy daughter of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Andrew Cuomo, oldest son of NewYork Gov.Mario Cuomo,were united in holy matrimony in the Cathedral of St.Matthew in Washington, D.C. A reception followed at Hickory Hill, the Kennedy family estate in suburban McLean, Va.

Forty years ago — 1980

The Fortnightly Club, a group dedicated to study and fund raising for the Anderson-Lee Library, celebrated its 40th anniversary recently with a dinner at the home of Mrs. Russell DiMaggio in Fredonia. Fortnightly began in 1939 when four Silver Creekwomen, Mrs. Ruby Stewart, Mrs. Rachael Peters, Miss Marion Thomas and Mrs. Geraldine Homokay decided to each buy a book of interest, read and discuss it, then donate the book to the local library.
