Thirty years ago – 1990

The Women’s Fellowship of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dunkirk hosted a 100th anniversary party recently in Reller Hall. The invocation was offered by the pastor, the Rev. Joseph Hedrick, who delivered a brief message as did Council President Kathy Keith. Each former president recalled her term of office and was presented with a white daisy corsage. The program “Journey Down Memory Lane” was presented by the Sarah Circle.

Forty years ago – 1980

Carol Rae Valvo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Valvo of Old Main Road, Silver Creek was recently named valedictorian at Silver Creek Central School with a cumulative average of 94. She plans to continue her education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she will study engineering. Salutatorian Karen Bolling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Bolling of Old Main Road, Silver Creek will major in accounting at Fredonia State University College.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Rev. Willard Barber, who will be leaving Dunkirk for a new assignment, was the guest of honor at a reception held by the United Methodist Youth Fellowship.
