Twenty years ago — 1990

The unveiling of a memorial plaque took place recently at the Dayton Sesquicentennial Park. The plaque honors the late Wenzel “Sam” Mirwald. Mr. Mirwald served as town justice in Dayton for 42 consecutive years. He died March 2. Donations funded the cost of the plaque which will be hung in the Dayton Town Hall in Markhams.

Thirty years ago — 1980

Frank Lauricella, proprietor of the White Inn in Fredonia, announced today that he has reached an agreement with Richard H. Watt for the sale of the business. Mr. Watt is locally known as the owner and operator of The Grainery Restaurant in Cherry Creek. He is the managing general partner of a partnership that also includes David C. Bryant and R. David Palmer.

Forty years ago — 1970

Two Fredonia High School students — Mick Dunning and Dan Moore — have been selected and will be sponsored by the Fredonia Rotary Club to attend the first Western New York Fellowship of Christian Athletes convention at Niagara University.
