Thirty years ago — 1990

Eight-year-old Christina Sim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hyeong Sim, 21 Carol Ave., Fredonia was recently awarded second prize in the Young Artists Division/Level Four finals of the World Piano Competition sponsored by the American Music Scholarship Association in Cincinnati, Ohio. Students ages 5 through 17 representing 17 countries performed.

Forty years ago — 1980

Dr. Elmer Musacchio, a Fredonia dentist for almost 47 years, retired July 1 from his practice at 9 East Main St. A local resident for 46 years, Dr. Musacchio’s dental practice was located in the same office for more than 45 years. He is a native of North Collins and graduate of North Collins High School. Dr. Musacchio noted he has had several patients who have been with him since he started his practice, including five generations of a prominent Fredonia family.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Dunkirk native Col. Otto C. Doerflinger Jr. received the silver eagles of full colonel grade in the U.S. Army during ceremonies held in Germany.
