Thirty years ago — 1990

A retirement luncheon was held recently at Brooks Hospital in honor of Annabelle Reilly, R.N., patient education nurse. She was presented with a letter from Chautauqua County Executive Andrew W. Goodell, recognizing her 33 years of service to the citizens of the county as a health educator.

Forty years ago — 1980

The Hanover Zoning Board of Appeals has unanimously voted to deny a request submitted by Sunset Bay Park Inc. for a zoning variance to establish an outdoor roller skating rink at the park, commonly known as Mulligan’s Beach Club. The proposed rink was to be about 8,000 square feet and open until 11 p.m. at night, according to prospective owner John Millitello.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Karen Jankowski, daughter of City Court Judge and Mrs. August R. Jankowski, 368 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk was awarded nine prizes at the Jaycee-sponsored Drum Majorettes of America baton twirling contest held in Columbia, Pa.
