Thirty years ago — 1990

Dunkirk’s newest restaurant, Silly Willy’s, 332 Central Avenue near City Hall, is slated to open Aug. 1. Owner Mark Moser said the menu will be geared to all ages and financial levels. Originally from the Buffalo area, Mr. Moser was a chef in some of Buffalo’s finer restaurants. He was the nutrition director at Brooks Hospital for the past three years.

Forty years ago — 1980

Reed Library of Fredonia State University College has received a gift of 10 paintings and drawings by Fredonia artist Larry Urbscheit. The works were donated by the artist through the Fredonia College Foundation to be displayed in the library. Mr. Urbscheit has been a Fredonia resident since 1956; was an elementary art teacher at the Fredonia Campus School until 1969; and had been a professor of drawing in the college art department until his retirement in 1975.

Fifty years ago — 1970

William H. Mellor of Dunkirk has been elected secretary of Niagara Therapy Corp. of Adamsville, Pa. He was formerly comptroller of the company, stationed in Niagara’s Brocton plant.
