Thirty years ago — 1990
At the recent meeting of the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Reva Kuczenski, president of Citizens Against Illegal Fireworks (CAIF) was honored with the Spirit of Fredonia Award. The award recognizes individuals who have dedicated themselves to making Fredonia a better place to live and to raise a family.
Forty years ago — 1980
After nearly 11 years as pastor, the Rev. Franklin G. Horst will leave the First Baptist Church of Dunkirk to begin service with a home missionary organization in the Southwest. The highlight of Rev. Horst’s pastorate at Dunkirk was leading the congregation in a building program completed in 1975 with dedication of the new facilities in September of that year. He also was featured in a local radio devotional program.
Fifty years ago — 1970
The women responsible for the women’s activities department at the Chautauqua County Fair are Mrs. Harry Peters of Fredonia, general superintendent; Mrs. Robert R. Dew of Dunkirk, committee chairman; Mrs. Harry Centner of Dunkirk, co-chairman of women’s activities; and Mrs. Harold Cowles of Ashville, general chairman.
