Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1990

The main campus of the J.N. Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg will be closed by March 31, 1993. There are presently 192 residents living at the main campus. Plans call for their relocation to community homes that will be operated by the state. No loss of jobs is anticipated in the transition to an entirely communitybased operation.

Forty years ago — 1980

The four finalists for the 1980 “Miss Fredonia Chamber of Commerce” contest which will be held during the Fredonia Pomfret Family Day have been announced. They are Dorothy Conti, 18, of Route 83 and a student at Fredonia High School; Anne Dyment, 17, of 136 Howard St., Fredonia, also an FHS student; Lynn Roeder, 20, of West Lake Road in the town of Pomfret and a student at SUNY Fredonia; and Renee Zarlock, 17, of Sahle Place in Fredonia, also a SUNY Fredonia student.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Bas Mitzvah ceremonies for Miss Susan Light were held Sept. 5 at Temple Beth El. Susan is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Light, 50 West Fourth St., Dunkirk.
