Thirty years ago — 1990

The Dunkirk branch of Goldome, 51 E. 4th St., has announced the winners of its children’s coloring contest. The winners, who received a $25 bond, are Jessica Galardo of Dunkirk, age 5; Drew Anderson of Forestville, 7; Julie Saletta of Fredonia, 9; and Beth Eppolito of Fredonia, 11. Brent Wolford of Dunkirk was winner of a $100 savings account.

Forty years ago — 1980

Among the law enforcement officers of the 122nd session of the FBI National Academy to be honored in a recent graduation ceremony in Quantico, Va., is Frank J. Levandoski Jr. of the Dunkirk Police Department. He attended numerous local, state and federal police schools after graduating from Dunkirk High School in 1960. Levandoski joined the Dunkirk Police 13 years ago.

Fifty years ago — 1970

After a $100,000 fire last November that destroyed the furniture showroom and their home behind it, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kropat are now back in the furniture-appliance business in a brand new store. It is located on Route 60 in Cassadaga.
