Thirty years ago — 1990

New York Secretary of State Gail Shaffer presented the National Environmental Award to Ripley Supervisor Tom Curtin at a ceremony in Ripley to honor the town for its new water improvement facility built under the state Self Help Program. The award was presented to Shaffer by President Bush and she, in turn, gave the glass sculpture award to Ripley.

Forty years ago — 1980

The Rev. Joseph F. Wroblewski, former principal of Cardinal Mindszenty High School, died Sept. 23. He had served as pastor at St. Rose of Lima Church in Forestville from 1973-76 and as principal of CMHS for 11 years following a brief tenure as vice principal. Fr. Wroblewski was named principal on March 21, 1962.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The new Lincoln-Mercury showroom is the latest addition to Hartley Ford, Lincoln, Mercury. The modern building is located on Route 60, just south of Route 20 and is behind the Hartley Ford showroom.
