Hope Forbes of Dunkirk recently won second place in the “Natural Wonders” division in the Allegany Region of the state photography contest, “The Wonders of New York.” Her subject was Lake Erie.
Forty years ago — 1980
Three former Dunkirk softball greats will be inducted into the Western New York Softball Hall of Fame early next month. The 1980 inductees from Dunkirk are “Hank” Wojcinski, Joe Wdowiasz and Don Reilly.

Harold J. Zell has been elected assistant vice president at the Fredonia office of the Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company, and Reginald S. Corsi was elected assistant secretary.
