Forty years ago — 1980

Gov. Hugh Carey today made a surprise announcement in regard to the J.N. Adam Developmental Center to the effect that the facility no longer faces an uncertain future. The governor said a decision has been made to keep the center in service for the Southern Tier counties.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward I. Gornikiewicz of Willowbrook Avenue, Dunkirk and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zoladz of Silver Creek have returned from Chicago where they attended the 90th anniversary meeting of the Polish National Alliance.
