Thirty years ago — 1990

On behalf of the village of Fredonia, DeputyMayor Roger Britz accepted a check for $1,000 from Wimodausis Club members Lois Brushaber, who chaired the committee to donate the funds to help defray the cost of repairing the Barker Common fountain basins, and Irene Odell, club treasurer.

Forty years ago — 1980

An OBSERVER photo shows the reduction in floors from three to one at the American Legion Post 62 building on Central Avenue, Dunkirk as a large crane works to remove the top two floors of the three-story building that houses the club. After the top two floors are removed, a new roof will be built over the remaining onestory structure. At one time, many social events including dances were held on the upper floors.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Paul Lancaster, a senior at Dunkirk High School, is the Student of the Week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Lancaster, 515 Dove St., Dunkirk.
