Thirty years ago — 1990

Since its organization in 1930, the Zonta Club of the Dunkirk-Fredonia area has donated $60,000 to area programs, projects and people. The D-F area club, Charter 114, was organized by the Jamestown club, its “mother club,” which also organized the Westfield-Mayville club, a “sister club.” The current membership is 28. A 60th birthday celebration was held recently at the Sheraton Harborfront Inn in Dunkirk.

Forty years ago — 1980

A new power generator still is sitting in its shipping crate at the Dunkirk fire headquarters on Eagle Street. The new generator will replace the existing generator. The new $5,760 generator was purchased two weeks ago without competitive bidding under an “emergency situation.”

Fifty years ago — 1970

T. Richard Patterson of Harrysbourg attended the annual convention of the New York State Music Teachers Association at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Mr. Patterson is president of the association.
