Thirty years ago — 1990

The Westfield Chamber of Commerce handed out awards at its annual banquet last week to two businesses. The Business Improvement Awards were given to Cora’s Beauty Salon and the Main Diner, both located on East Main Street, for improvements to the establishments.

Forty years ago — 1980

Student of the Week is Barbara J. Prinzi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Prinzi of Center Road in Silver Creek. Barbara is one of the top-ranked seniors at Silver Creek Central School. She was recently selected as the 1980 Cheerleader of the Year and has been nominated by the faculty for the “Outstanding Teenage Young Person,” sponsored by the Silver Creek Jaycees and Jayncees.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The Tremaine Agency and the Samuel Leone Insurance Agency in Fredonia have announced the merger of the two companies.
