Thirty years ago — 1990

Robert Billick, owner of Robert’s Jewelers, presented Lucille Rizzo with a ring valued at $500, the grand prize in Robert’s Jewelers Annual Estate Sale Giveaway. No purchase was necessary. Robert’s Jewelers has been open in the Fredonia area for 20 years.

Forty years ago — 1980

Student of the Week is Mary Josephson, daughter of William and Deanna Josephson of Gerry and senior class president at Cassadaga Valley Central School. During her freshman and sophomore years, Mary was both class president and class queen. In her junior year, she was a student council representative as well as class queen. This year, she once more is class president and was selected as the Homecoming Queen. Mary plans to attend Jamestown Community College as a social science major.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The new Dunkirk ice skating rink at Veterans Field, near the corner of Woodrow and Lucas avenues, is expected to be ready for use today.
