Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1990

“It’s going to be difficult to replace a man of his stature.” With these words of praise, Cassadaga Valley Central School Superintendent Kenneth Connolly accepted high school principal David Abram’s resignation for retirement purposes. His retirement becomes effective July 1, 1991, ending a 24-year career with the CVCS district. A hometown boy, Abrams was raised in Cassadaga and graduated from CVCS in 1949.

Forty years ago — 1980

Arthur G. Foster of Forestville recently announced the sale of the Foster Aluminum Alloy Products Corp., effective Dec. 1, to William A. Cartwright and Kermit C. Johnson of Jamestown. Mr. Foster has been president and general manager of the Foster Corp. during its 35 years of operation within the village of Forestville. The company produces oil and molasses gates and industrial type castings.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Debra Eberly, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Eberly of Portland, is the Student of the Week. She is a senior at Brocton Central School.
