Thirty years ago — 1990

Village of Fredonia officials recently placed yellow ribbons in Barker Common and in and around Village Hall to honor the servicemen participating in Operation Desert Shield, which include nine Fredonia residents serving overseas: Jeffrey Saeli, Brian DeJohn, Doug Walter, Glenn Follett, Scott Davis, Thomas Slate, Bruce Ritenburg IV, Wayne Vollentine and Allen Wood

Forty years ago — 1980

A new sign graces the front lawn of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Cassadaga. The sign, which identifies the church and includes a new lighting system, was erected by Cassadaga Job Corps students to replace an older metal sign that was showing evidence of wear. Under the direction of instructor Richard Bartlett, the masonry students laid the bricks for the sign using materials that match those in the main structure of the church.

Fifty years ago — 1970

The combined Dunkirk and Fredonia Rotary clubs have announced plans to sponsor an air show at the Dunkirk Municipal Airport in July 1971.
